First Scoops on the Royal Couple's L.A. Visit: Prince William and new bride Kate's itinerary for their July 8 to 10 trip to Southern California is ultra-hush-hush. But THR has a read on their likely agenda. On July 9, the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry will have a charity polo match at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. (Polo is still big among princes.) Club spokeswoman Ellen Reid says she doesn't know whether the couple will attend. But it does seem like a long way to travel and not hit an event with your name on it that's just up the coast. As for L.A., there had been preliminary talks for a July 8 soiree in a private home to benefit Tusk, an African wildlife-protection charity that counts the prince as a patron. Then there's a prospective visit to one of L.A.'s Skid Row missions -- homelessness being one of William's big concerns. The couple most likely will also do a BAFTA/LA event. An insider says nondisclosure agreements have been signed regarding their participation. The connection would be William's 2010 appointment as BAFTA president. Plus, it could add glitz to a tour that has the Calgary Stampede rodeo as the lone announced event on their 11-day North American trip. Asked whether anything was cooking, the exec directors of Tusk and BAFTA/L.A. offered a terse "no comment."
