Alan Horn's Ice Capade: Former Warner Bros. chief Alan Horn, the eco-activist now exec producing The Hobbit, returned Feb. 7 from a trip to Antarctica with Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, during which he marched with the penguins. Along with his wife, Cindy (who is on CRP's board), global-warming research scientists and a number of other industry travelers including Ted Turner and Participant Media head Jeff Skoll, the Happy Feet green-lighter braved the 30-foot waves of the Drake Passage. Although Horn saw everything from whales to seals, it was the penguins that truly entranced him. "To them you don't represent a threat," he tells THR. "You just represent a creature who looks slightly underdressed."

Wiig Takes Dujardin for a Ride

When SNL asked Jean Dujardin to participate in a dance sketch Feb. 11 with host Zooey Deschanel and Kristen Wiig, he was game -- but figured he'd have to pass since he had to be in London the following evening for the BAFTAs (where he ended up winning best actor). But Wiig had a solution: He'd hitch a ride on her chartered jet. "She said, 'Well, I've got to go, too, so come along!' " says a source. "They waved at the end of the show, and then left." A spokeswoman for Bridesmaids studio Universal would not comment on talent travel.

Streisand's Bad Rap

Barbra Streisand had fun with her image in Little Fockers and will again in My Mother's Curse, in which she plays Seth Rogen's mom. But when it comes to headphones, she's a traditionalist. Beats by Dr. Dre recently gave her a pair of its headphones, but while the diva tried out the bold earpieces, she nixed the gear in the end. "She said she'd stick with her old-school Sonys," a session insider tells THR. Too much bass, Babs?

Vidal Gores Critics

Gore Vidal spoke out in support of his friend Scotty Bowers, the octogenarian former Hollywood hustler, at a party for Bowers' new book, Full Service, on Feb. 8 at Chateau Marmont. Many have questioned the former Marine's account of arranging liaisons with and for Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and others from a gas station. But Vidal vouched for Bowers to the crowd, which included Dana Delany and producer Mitch Glazer. "Everybody in California is a liar, especially my agent," said Vidal. "But not Scotty. Scotty tells it like it is."
