Randy Jackson Pitching Daytime Talk Show (Exclusive)

The "American Idol" judge and reality TV producer "wants to talk about things that will be hip next," a source tells THR.
Anderson Cooper and Katie Couric have already thrown their hats into the competitive daytime talk show ring, rolling out chat-fests in the fall of 2011 and 2012, respectively. Could Randy Jackson be next?
Sources say the American Idol judge and reality TV producer has been pitching a talk show concept to potential buyers around town. Despite his Grammy-winning music background, the show, which Jackson would front, would not be limited to musical guests.

"He wants to talk about things that will be hip next," says one knowledgeable source. "He thinks he has his finger on the pulse."
In addition to Fox's top-rated music competition show, for which Jackson is the longest-serving judge, he executive produces MTV's Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew. The series, hosted by Mario Lopez, has been on the air for six seasons.

Earlier in his career, Jackson spent eight years as the vp of A&R at Columbia Records followed by four as senior vp of A&R at MCA Records. He has also recorded, toured, performed and produced records for artists such as Madonna, Elton John and Whitney Houston, giving him plenty to talk about on a chat show.
Jackson's manager declined to comment; his publicist didn't respond to requests for comment.
