Rapaport locks up Fox's 'Prison Break'

Mullally joins cast of 'Bad Mother's Handbook'

Megan Mullally has been tapped to star opposite Alicia Silverstone on the ABC comedy pilot "Bad Mother's Handbook," while Michael Rapaport has joined Fox's "Prison Break" as a regular.

In other casting news, Annie Potts and Amanda Detmer have come aboard ABC's untitled Kristin Newman comedy pilot, while Domenick Lombardozzi, Jacob Vargas, Malachi Weir, Tasha Smith and Tzi Ma have joined the network's drama presentation "Finnegan."

"Handbook," from ABC Studios, is a single-camera comedy about a 32-year-old woman (Silverstone) too busy taking care of her teenage daughter (Alia Shawkat) and her mother (Mullally).

Mullally, who is finishing a run in"Young Frankenstein" on Broadway, is repped by Gersh and Untitled.

On the 20th Century Fox TV-produced "Prison Break," Rapaport will play a government agent who has an interesting offer for Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and his brother (Dominic Purcell). Production on the upcoming fourth season begins this month in Los Angeles.

Rapaport has been recurring on NBC's "My Name Is Earl," also for 20th TV.

The untitled Kristin Newman project, from ABC Studios and DreamWorks TV, is a single-camera comedy that centers on a thirtysomething woman who tries to break free of her overbearing and dysfunctional family, friends and boss.

Potts ("Men in Trees") is playing Elizabeth. Detmer ("What About Brian") is playing Sasha.

"Finnegan," from ABC Studios, focuses on the organized crime/vice unit in Los Angeles, which is led by a tough female detective.

Playing her colleagues are Lombardozzi ("The Wire") as Carbo, Vargas ("Moonlight") as Smash, Weir ("The Naked Brothers Band") as Mutt and Smith ("Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?") as McCants. Ma ("24") is playing her boss, Chu. (partialdiff)
