Rapper T.I., wife arrested on drug charges
Report: 'Takers' star still on probation from prison termRapper and "Takers" star T.I. and wife Tameka Cottle were arrested late Wednesday night on drug charges on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood as police smelled marijuana during a traffic stop.
T.I., currently on the big screen in weekend box office winner "Takers," served seven months in an Arkansas federal prison and three months in a Georgia halfway house, which he left earlier this year, on federal weapons charges. He is understood to still be on probation stemming from the prison term, as TMZ reported. It was not immediately clear what kind of repercussions the arrest could have for T.I.
"Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," Los Angeles sheriff's deputy Mark Pope told The Associated Press. "A narcotics investigation ensued" that resulted in the arrests, which were mindful of what happened last week to socialite Paris Hilton, who is being investigated for felony cocaine possession .
Atlanta-based T.I., 29, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and Cottle were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station and bail was set at $10,000.
