Rave producers file lawsuit against L.A.
Insomniac demands that Oct. event with DJ Tiesto continueRave producers Insomniac Inc. filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles for canceling an October event featuring Dutch DJ Tiesto. Submitted last Friday, the suit is requesting that the concert go on as planned at the L.A. Convention Center.
The city's interference comes after a 15-year-old girl died from a suspected drug overdose in June at Insomniac's Electric Daisy Carnival. The two-day event reportedly also resulted in 118 arrests, mostly for drug possession.
Organizers for Insomniac argue that the October event with DJ Tiesto is different from the June rave held at the L.A. Coliseum in that it is indoors and limited to adults.
On August 30, the city attorney's office acknowledged that is reviewing the lawsuit.
