Rebecca Ferguson Joins Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron in Musical 'Greatest Showman'
Michelle Williams and Zendaya also are among the cast of the project that will be directed by Michael Gracey.
Rebecca Ferguson, who broke through with Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, has joined the cast of The Greatest Showman, Fox’s musical focusing on P.T. Barnum, the founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
The actress joins Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya in the project that will be directed by Michael Gracey.
Jackman is playing Barnum, while Efron will portray a playwright who becomes Barnum’s right-hand man. Williams will play Jackman’s love interest and Zendaya will play a trapeze artist Efron's character falls for.
Ferguson will star as Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, who worked for Barnum in 1950.
Chernin Entertainment and Laurence Mark are producing the pic.
Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who were Tony-nominated for The Christmas Story, are writing original songs for the film.
Kira Goldberg is overseeing the project for Twentieth Century Fox.
Ferguson next stars with Emily Blunt in DreamWorks’ adaptation of The Girl on the Train. She also is part of the ensemble cast of the sci-fi thriller Life, being directed by Daniel Espinosa.
