Never Say Never’ Premiere: It was almost impossible to distinguish the screams of fans inside the Nokia Theatre from the ones shrieking onscreen at the premiere of Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never. Thousands of the teenage pop star’s fans descended on the L.A. Live complex hoping to catch a glimpse of Bieber, who sported a D&G peaked-lapel blazer in his signature purple — the same hue as the film’s 3D glasses. Many of the singer’s famous friends also stopped by to support his first feature, including Miley Cyrus, rumored girlfriend Selena Gomez, manager Scooter Braun and mentor Usher. Actress Taylor Momsen summed up the singer’s appeal this way: “Isn’t it the hair? Isn’t that the phenomenon? It’s just awesome,” she said. — Lauren Schutte

An Unforgettable Evening
Celebrities and industry executives lent a hand at An Unforgettable Evening, a benefit at the Beverly Wilshire for the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund. The night, in the words of co-chair Wilson, was “all about making progress” in early-detection testing. Cee Lo performed and O’Brien, who said he’d had a hard time finding any good cancer jokes, emceed. The event raised more than $1.5 million for research.
