Reese Witherspoon to Receive MTV Generation Award

MTV President Stephen Friedman calls the actress, who is being honored at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, "one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time."

Reese Witherspoon will receive MTV's Generation Award at the network's annual movie awards this weekend.

The actress - who won a Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in 2005's Walk The Line - is being honored for delighting the MTV audience throughout her career,  the network said Wednesday.

In a statement, MTV President Stephen Friedman called Witherspoon "one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time."

Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis is hosting the show Sunday; Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Shia LaBeouf, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Selena Gomez and Nicki Minaj are among the presenters.

Sunday's show will also feature a first-look at footage from the latest Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn, Part 1.
