The Secrets to Reese Witherspoon's Luminous Met Gala Complexion
Makeup artist Molly R Stern reveals the cocktail of skincare and cosmetics she used on the glowing star.
The idea behind Reese Witherspoon’s makeup for Monday’s Met Gala? “To look modern and clean, [since she was] wearing a gorgeous red Jason Wu dress that was sleek and sophisticated,” makeup artist Molly R Stern tells Pret-a-Reporter.
She wanted Witherspoon to be the most gorgeous version of herself, so she started by prepping and cleaning her skin with Simple Miceller Cleansing Water ($7), “to give her a hydrated, fresh canvas.” Next she massaged in Natura Bisse Vitamin C+C vitamin complex serum ($190) to “recharge her face with a high concentration of nutrients, which keep the skin firm and bright.”
She also applied Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer ($11) to moisturize and keep her skin non-greasy, before adding NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ($57) “sparingly, where needed.” Stern contoured the hollows of the actress’ cheeks using the deeper shade in NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Fervor ($45) for added drama and definition, but kept the apples of her cheeks rosy and glowing using the pink from the duo.
Finally, the makeup artist “accentuated her cheekbones, bridge of her nose, brow bones and cupid’s bow with organic Kjaer Weis cream highlighter ($56) in Radiance to provide a subtle youthful glow.” It worked.
