Relativity Hires Veteran Indie Executive Matt Brodlie to Head Acquisitions
The exec has done stints at Paramount and Miramax, where he got his start working for Harvey Weinstein.
Veteran acquisition executive Matt Brodlie has joined Relativity Media as executive vice president. He'll head up acquisitions, reporting to Relativity president Tucker Tooley.
Brodlie most recently worked at Exclusive Media, where he launched the company's U.S. distribution arm (Exclusive Media has slowly been winding down its operations following the departures of founders Guy East and Nigel Sinclair).
Prior to Exclusive, Brodlie ran Paramount’s worldwide acquisitions group, overseeing domestic and international acquisitions of both packaged and completed films. He was also responsible for local-language productions and co-productions in the many territories outside the U.S where Paramount distributes product.
Brodlie began his career working for Harvey Weinstein at Miramax, moving up the ranks to become senior vice president acquisitions and co-productions, overseeing staff in Los Angeles, Beijing and Sydney.
Relativity’s recent acquisitions include Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon, the upcoming Pierce Brosnan espionage thriller The November Man and Hector and the Search for Happiness, a larger-than-life adventure starring Simon Pegg.
