Relativity and Lantica Partner for Thriller 'Our Father'
Frank E. Flowers wrote the script and will direct the thriller.
Relativity Studios has partnered with Caribbean-based Lantica Media, formerly a production and distribution entity known as Indomina Group, to co-finance and co-produce Our Father, a thriller from writer-director Frank E. Flowers.
The project is to lay the groundwork for future co-productions as the two plan on making films with budgets upward of $80 million. But the film component is just part of the blueprint as the two explore technical, film-related education and athlete/talent representation initiatives, according to the two companies.
The aim is to shoot Our Father in the Dominican Republic, where Lantica owns Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios.
Our Father centers on a 50-something FBI agent known for his hardcore undercover work. When personal issues hit, he is taken out of the field and stuck in a classroom training recruits. But when he finds out he has a 17-year-old bi-racial son, he defies his superiors and hits the street to save the young man.
Relativity’s Matt Alvarez and Lantica Media’s production arm will oversee the project.
Lantica recently restructured and is focusing on what has become its core asset: the recently opened Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios. It plans to renew its energies on the development, production and financing of film and television content.
