Relativity Media expanding into India
Partners with Fuse Capital's Keyur Patel to launch outpostRyan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media is setting up an outpost in India by partnering with Fuse Capital's Keyur Patel to form Relativity Media India.
Headquartered in Mumbai, production, distribution and finance company RMI will handle Indian distribution for Relativity Media single pictures and acquire English-language films from other Hollywood studios and producers for distribution in India across all platforms.
RMI also is set to develop, produce and distribute local-language content by partnering with Indian talent. It's seeking to create original content for all platforms, including film, television and video games, as well as license, adapt and remake properties and formats for the local market.
RMI is completing the acquisition of distribution rights to more than 30 recent and current English-language films.
Patel will serve as chairman and chief creative officer, overseeing a staff of 11 execs. As chairman and CEO of Fuse+Media, Patel has been an investor in TV networks and films in India as well as a producer on several film and media projects in Hollywood and Bollywood.
