R.E.M. to Release Greatest Hits Album
The compilation will be titled “Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982-2011” and is set for a November release.
In the wake of their disbandment, R.E.M. will be releasing a greatest hits album this fall.

Following several previously released compilation albums by the group, Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982-2011 is set for a Nov. 15 release courtesy of Warner Bros. Music, a rep for the band confirms to The Hollywood Reporter. An official announcement is expected on Monday, Sept. 26.
According to Rolling Stone, the release will span the group’s 31-year career. Additionally, it will include several new songs that weren’t finished until after the completion of their final album, Collapse Into Now.
The band took to their website on Wednesday, Sept. 21 to announce their split.
“As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all that we have accomplished,” they said in a joint statement. “To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”

“A wise man once said – ‘the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it,” wrote frontman Michael Stipe. “I hope our fans realize this wasn’t an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way.”
