Fashion fans flocking to Sin City to ring in 2014 can soon suit up with Rent the Runway. The breakthrough business that offers designer dresses and accessories for rent will unlock their newly minted vault on Dec. 27 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas – just in time for New Year's Eve.
"Las Vegas is one of the only places on earth where it’s not only appropriate but pretty much required to wear something outrageous every night of the year," said Jennifer Hyman, chief executive officer who co-founded Rent the Runway with fellow Harvard Business School classmate Jennifer Fleiss in 2009. "Who better to get you into that gold sequined mini-dress than Rent the Runway? The Cosmopolitan serves as the perfect partner with its vibrant and see-and-be-seen atmosphere."
“We continuously seek out partners who will help create new experiences for our guests, and there is no better fit than Rent the Runway. It’s an innovative way to make a night even more special for Las Vegas, locals and visitors, – imagine a spectacular dress for every night of your visit without the commitment," said Lisa Marchese, chief marketing officer of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. “And it simply makes business sense as our guests are savvy, heavy online users who care about looking great. Finding a way to integrate their online behavior with an offline retail experience is a new twist for this market and perfect to launch during the New Year’s Eve festivities."
Rent the Runway at The Cosmopolitan will offer a same-day dress rental service for a rotating selection of over 190 designer brands, including Badgley Mischka, Halston Heritage and RVN, among others. Customers will also be able to peruse a "Cocktail Menu" of dress options: The Manhattan for floor-length gowns, The Lemon Drop for sweet silhouettes, and The Fireball for the sequined cocktail dresses that often help light up the Strip. The store will feature garment sizes 0 to 22, with prices ranging from $50 to $450. Appointments and styling sessions can be booked in advance online, and all rented items can be returned on-site before leaving Las Vegas.
The Cosmopolitan spot marks Rent the Runway's first location outside New York City, as the company currently touts offline showrooms in Soho and inside Henri Bendel. The company launched a special selection curated by Beyonce in May, as well as capsule collections with Moschino, Donna Karan and Narciso Rodriguez.
Located on the second floor of the luxury hotel and casino's retail complex, the shop joins All Saints Spitalfields, Jason of Beverly Hills and Stitched. The hotel is also connected to Crystals, City Center's angular shopping spot housing Louis Vuitton, Pucci, Miu Miu and Stella McCartney, among many others.
It also happens to be a short walk away from The Chelsea, the brand new venue where Bruno Mars will ring in 2014.
