Fastest Tongue on Broadway
Hamilton star Daveed Diggs, a Tony nominee for his dual roles as the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the Broadway sensation, has signed with publicity firm 42West. The Oakland, Calif., native, who is part of Sub Pop’s experimental hip-hop trio clipping., is a Hamilton fan favorite, rapping a Broadway-record 19 words in three seconds in the number “Guns and Ships.” Diggs, who is repped by WME, has recurred as a defense attorney on NBC's Law & Order: SVU and is set to appear as the narrator in Baz Luhrmann’s period hip-hop drama The Get Down on Netflix.
Crossing the Potomac
Abrams has signed Ashley Darby of The Real Housewives of Potomac, which Bravo has renewed for a second season. The 2011 Miss District of Columbia recently opened Australian-American restaurant Oz Arlington with her husband Michael Darby, an Australian real-estate magnate.
The Healthy Kind of Chain-Smoking
EDM duo The Chainsmokers has signed with publicity firm PMK*BNC’s music department. The New York natives broke out in 2014 with their viral hit “#Selfie,” and followed it with singles “Kanye,” “Let You Go,” “Roses” (which was certified platinum) and “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya, another recent PMK*BNC signee. The latter hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs charts and is a contender for this year’s song of the summer.
