IMG gets the beautiful game
Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer have signed with IMG through 2022. The agency, acquired by WME in May, will handle global media rights for the pro league as well as men’s and women’s national team matches played in the U.S., including World Cup qualifiers. (The agreement excludes media rights for the U.S. and Canada, as MLS and U.S. Soccer signed massive eight-year deals in May with Fox, ESPN and Univision, reportedly worth a total of $720 million.)
Plunder from Down Under
Newcomer Joel Jackson has signed with UTA in a competitive situation. The Australian native, 23, never intended to become an actor; he was a touring rock musician and soccer player as a teenager. With no stage experience, he successfully auditioned for Australia’s prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art and graduated last year. Now he’ll be starring in Australia’s anticipated World War I miniseries Deadline Gallipoli, portraying war correspondent Charles Bean opposite Hugh Dancy and Sam Worthington, who also is producing. Jackson continues to be repped by Mark Morrissey and Fleur Griffin of Australia’s Morrissey Management.

Resolution’s Rich Green, formerly of CAA and UTA, has joined ICM Partners’ media rights department. Green’s clientele includes some of the literary world’s brightest stars, including Matthew Quick (The Silver Linings Playbook), Jonathan Franzen (The Corrections), Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club), Neal Stephenson (Snow Crash) and Deborah Harkness (The Discovery of Witches).
WME gives him signing papers
Wiz Khalifa has signed with WME. The rapper earned his first Billboard 200 No. 1 upon the August release of his most recent album, Blacc Hollywood, and he kicks off the Blacc Hollywood Big Secret Tour tonight in Santa Ana, Calif. Khalifa hit it big with his multi-platinum single “Black and Yellow,” part of his 2011 major-label debut, Rolling Papers. The artist also owns label and brand Taylor Gang Ent., which has partnered with Neff for a 26-piece activewear collection and with Diamond Supply Co. designer Sketch for a lifestyle brand called Freshko. Khalifa has also collaborated with hatmakers Flat Fitty, RAW rolling paper and Converse. He continues to be managed by Will Dzombak of Taylor Gang and Constance Schwartz of SMAC Entertainment, and repped by attorney Evan Freifeld of Felcher & Freifeld.
They want his sax
British saxophonist Ed Barker has signed with Gerry Pass at Chrome Artists Management for representation in the United States. The former parliament speechwriter moonlighted on tour with George Michael before releasing his debut solo sax album, Simple Truth, on Jan. 9 this year. Its first single, “When You Smile,” featuring Strictly Come Dancing singer Lance Ellington, hit No. 1 on the Independent Mainstream Network Top 30 chart.
Shah joins Sheila
Marketing and PR firm Sheila Donnelly & Associates has tapped Parool K. Shah as vice president. The UNC alum spent the last seven years of her 22-year career directing PR strategy for the Ritz-Carlton’s hotels in the Americas. She also has handled publicity for the Beverly Hills Visitors Bureau, Neiman Marcus, the Rodeo Drive Committee and Ferrari North America.
