Moviegoers get their first look at awards hopeful Cloud Atlas this weekend.
Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and Hugo Weaving star in the sci-fi mystery, which was written and directed by siblings Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer.
The drama, adapted from David Mitchell's best-selling novel, explores how the actions of an individual impact another in the past, present and future. Each actor plays multiple characters in the movie.

Meanwhile, Curtis Hanson and Michael Apted's Chasing Mavericks stars Gerard Butler, Jonny Weston and Elisabeth Shue.
The action-drama follows a young surfer who discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break -- one of the biggest waves on Earth -- is just miles aways from his Santa Cruz home.
