Ricky Schroder Reunites With 'Silver Spoons' Cast at Comedy Roast
'80s sitcom stars Joel Higgins and Erin Gray poked fun at their former costar at the Friar's Club in New York.
It was a Stratton family reunion for the stars of the popular '80s sitcom Silver Spoons Friday night in New York City. Former cast members Joel Higgins and Erin Gray -- more commonly known to fans as Edward and Katie Stratton -- came together at the expense of their onetime TV son, Ricky Schroder.
Schroder, now 42, was at the Friar's Club as the guest of honor for the "So You Think You Can Roast!?" event, alongside roastmaster D.B. Sweeney and celebrity judges Gilbert Gottfried, Seth Herzog and Alan Zweibel. The event was part of an ongoing series at the New York City club, in which comedians compete for the opportunity to roast Dennis Rodman in the "SYTYCR" finals March 15. The winning comedian will get to "honor" Jack Black at the official 2013 Friar's Club Roast on Friday, April 5.
Schroder took their lighthearted jabs in stride, firing back at his former TV parents: "I'm the highlight of your careers!" Wrapping up the show, he addressed the crowd, "“For those of you still wondering who I am, I’m not the kid from A Christmas Story …”
Schroder starred as Ricky Stratton on the NBC hit series about a rich family that grapples with everyday problems. It premiered in 1982 and ran until its cancellation in 1986. The actor has since starred in, written and directed several TV movies -- most recently Wild Hearts, which he wrote with his wife, Andrea. The movie premieres on the HallMark Movie Channel on March 9.
