British Film Institute bestows award Saturday

LONDON -- Director Ridley Scott became the 62nd recipient of a BFI
Fellowship on Saturday night, the highest accolade the British Film Institute
dishes out.

Scott joins David Lean, Clint Eastwood, Bernardo Bertolucci and Bette Davis
on the list of names to have been awarded the honor.

Created in 1983, the BFI Fellowship is given in recognition of "the
outstanding achievement of those who have helped shape film and television
culture in the U.K."

Scott was presented the award Saturday evening by fellow director and former
BFI Governor Stephen Frears following an onstage discussion and celebration
 of Scott's career.
