Ridley Scott receives BFI Fellowship
British Film Institute bestows award SaturdayLONDON -- Director Ridley Scott became the 62nd recipient of a BFI Fellowship on Saturday night, the highest accolade the British Film Institute dishes out.
Scott joins David Lean, Clint Eastwood, Bernardo Bertolucci and Bette Davis on the list of names to have been awarded the honor.
Created in 1983, the BFI Fellowship is given in recognition of "the outstanding achievement of those who have helped shape film and television culture in the U.K."
Scott was presented the award Saturday evening by fellow director and former BFI Governor Stephen Frears following an onstage discussion and celebration of Scott's career.
