Front Row Report, Versus Versace: Nicki Minaj On Donatella's "Ultimate Glamorous Party"
Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson and Nina Dobrev also joined the fashion bash to support designer Anthony Vaccarello for his first Versus Versace collection
You wouldn't expect little else from Donatella Versace: a Versus front row at New York's West side space Metropolitan West — all done up with a white and black marble runway, and miles of mirror, glass and gold — complete with Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Nina Dobrev, Nicki Minaj and models Naomi Campbell and Liya Kebede.
Dobrev, accompanied by stalwart stylist Ilaria Urbinati (at her third and final show of the week, after Thakoon and Donna Karan), wore a Versus Versace mini dress with a fitted black Versace blazer over it, and her hair in the ubiquitous Ariana Grande high ponytail.
"It's nice not to have to travel to Italy to see this show," said Dobrev, shooting Vampire Diaries in Atlanta. "Not that I wouldn't love to go to Italy. I just don't have any time! I have always loved Versace, and it's so exciting to come to one of their shows in New York. I love this dress I'm wearing. [Anthony] Vaccarello is going to do great things for Versus, I think."
The star-studded crowd was draped in the Italian fashion house's pieces: Rihanna wore a white crop top, Versus Versace mini skirt embellished with gold safety pin detailing, and black Versace shoes with gold medusa embellishments; Naomi Campbell wore a Versace fall 2014 black cocktail dress and black shoes; and Nicki Minaj chose a dramatic floor-length printed Versus Versace T-shirt dress with an exposed gold zipper.
"Isn't this a cool scene?" asked Minaj. "This is the ultimate glamourous party. And honey, I've been to some glamourous parties."
Jennifer Hudson wore a white draped jersey top and matching skirt from the Versace pre-fall 2014 collection paired with Versace black over-the-knee boots. "I feel extremely hot in the look, and I'm not just talkin' about the weather," she laughed, and indeed, the pixie-haired Hudson was getting a lot of looks.
