Dior's "We Should All Be Feminists" Tees to Benefit Rihanna's Charity

Proceeds from Dior's "We Should All Be Feminists" tees, which RiRi sported during the Women's March in New York, will go toward The Clara Lionel Foundation.

When Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri debuted her first collection for the French fashion house, one of the most buzzed-about pieces from the range included a tee that read, "We Should All Be Feminists." (The phrase was inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 2014 book of the same title.) Now, those shirts will be sold in support of a good cause.

Dior announced Tuesday that a percentage of the proceeds from the feminist tees will benefit The Clara Lionel Foundation, the nonprofit organization founded by Rihanna in 2012. The charity, named in honor of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Brathwaite, works to improve the quality of life in impoverished communities by promoting health, education, arts and culture.

The tees, priced at $710, are available at all Dior boutiques and online until May 15.

Rihanna, who will be receiving this year's Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year award, most recently sported the shirt in support of the Women's March in New York in January. Natalie Portman also wore the tee while walking the Women's March in L.A. and Jennifer Lawrence sported the look on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Germany's February subscriber cover.

Rihanna's relationship with Dior first started in 2015, when she was appointed the new face of the luxury label.

Feminism has been this season's biggest trend, indeed. A number of New York Fashion Week designers, including Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung and Jonathan Simkhai, presented feminist tees on the runways.

Siriano's "People Are People" shirts ($25 each) were immediately on sale online after his show and 100 percent of the proceeds were donated to the ACLU; Gurung's tees bearing feminist phrases like "The Future is Female" and "Voices for Choices" ($130 each) benefit the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the Shikshya Foundation Nepal; and Simkhai's "Feminist AF" tops ($95 each) are available for preorder and benefit Planned Parenthood. Yet another reason we should all be feminists.
