Rihanna's Costume Designer to Debut Own Label at New York Fashion Week
Adam Selman will present his spring 2014 collection on Sept. 5.
Adam Selman, Rihanna's costume designer and the man behind the singer's collaboration with British retailer River Island, is heading out to this year's New York Fashion Week from Sept. 5 to 12.
Selman, who recently designed the looks for Ri-Ri's 777 tour, has dressed the "Diamonds" singer on multiple occasions, from her bejeweled bikini number for Barbados' Crop Over summer festival in August to her classy-looking white gown at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
According to WWD, the Pratt Institute alumnus' new line will feature swimwear, lingerie pieces, boxy tops and athletic-inspired wares. “It’s sexy. It’s that fantasy woman, but it’s also sporty,” says Selman, who found inspiration from the 1981 HBO special on supermodels called Beautiful Baby, Beautiful and '70s Cosmopolitan covers.
Selman is set to present his spring 2014 collection on Sept. 5 at the Algus Greenspon Gallery in New York.
The costumer designer has also worked on Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. label as well as Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour and Michael Jackson's This Is It tour.
