Robbie Brenner Leaving Relativity for The Firm
Robbie Brenner is leaving her post as president of production at Relativity and will join the Firm, the management-production company run by Jeff Kwatinetz, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Brenner becomes the second major exec to vacate Ryan Kavanaugh's company as it goes through bankruptcy. Tucker Tooley, who was Relativity's president, is in talks with The Weinstein Co.
Kwatinetz last month relaunched the Firm, the management and production company he shuttered seven years ago. Brenner's new role will be to run the rebooted company's film division.
At Relativity, Brenner cut her teeth overseeing a broad range of movies, from the fantasy tentpole Immortals to action movie Escape Plan to drama Out of the Furnace to the romancer Safe Haven.
While some hit and some misfired, she also proved her tenacity producing Dallas Buyers Club outside of the studio system, fighting in the trenches for years to get the Oscar-winning movie made.
