Robert De Niro, Paula Wagner on Board for Doha Talks
The second annual Doha Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 26-30 in Doha, Qatar, will host Doha Talks, a series of panels, master classes and events featuring such industry figures as producer Paula Wagner, CAA agent Micah Green and actor/producer Robert De Niro.
"Doha Talks offers a rare opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to interact with industry veterans, exchange ideas and form prospective partnerships," DFI executive director Amanda Palmer said.
Participants will also include director Peter Webber, casting director Billy Hopkins, Origin Pictures' David Thompson, Egyptian-American comedian Ahmed Ahmed, director Sameh Zoabi, director Ian Power, director Taika Waititi, filmmaker Mira Nair, cinematographer Sandi Sissel, screenwrtier Sabrina Dhawan, director Ziad Doueri, producer Lydia Dean Pilcher, producer Jane Rosenthal, director Scandar Copti, composer Nitin Sawhney, visual effects supervisor Matt Aitken, photographer Brigitte Lacombe and director Rachid Bouchareb.
Four panel discussions will explore various facets of filmmaking in today's world. They range from "Do you Speak Comedy? Humour Crossing Borders" to "Uncharted Territory: The Future of Storytelling and Distribution."
A masterclass will take a retrospective look at Boucherab's films, and the director will discuss his films and their contribution to highlighting 20th century French-Algerian history.
