Robert Redford and his wife Sibylle Szaggars Redford will receive the 2015 Prince Rainier III Award, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA announced Wednesday.

The Prince Rainier III Award recognizes a leader in the arts whose accomplishments are coupled with demonstrated service to the community. Redford and Szaggars Redford will be honored with the award for giving back and contributing to the arts.

The 2015 awards gala, sponsored by Christian Dior Couture, will be hosted by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco at the prince's palace in Monaco on Sept. 5. A $25,000 grant to Redford and Szaggars Redford's chosen philanthropic organization will also be given, along with an Alex Soldier-designed sculpture.

"It is my distinct pleasure to host with Princess Charlene this year’s Princess Grace Awards Gala at our home in Monaco, a place that my mother cherished," Prince Albert II of Monaco said. "I am especially honored to welcome our Prince Rainier III Award winners, Mr. Robert Redford and Mrs. Sibylle Szaggars Redford whose work epitomizes what our organization has strived to achieve over the past 33 years."

Past award winners include Julie Andrews, Glenn Close, George Lucas, Mandy Patinkin and Denzel and Pauletta Washington.

Director-writer Cary Fukunaga, who directed 2011's Jane Eyre and season one of True Detective, will also attend the gala and receive the 2015 Princess Grace Statue Award. The award recognizes past winners of the Princess Grace Award that distinguished themselves in their theater, dance or film artistic disciplines since receiving their initial award. Fukunaga will also receive $25,000 cash and a Kees Verkad-designed bronze statue of Princess Grace.

"Cary Fukunaga has inspired us from the day we received his submission for a Princess Grace Award ten years ago," PGF-USA executive director Toby Boshak said. "His immense talent has only grown over the course of his impressive career and we are thrilled to honor him with our Statue Award this year."

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA is a non-profit foundation founded 33 years ago by Prince Rainier III of Monaco to honor his wife, Princess Grace’s [Kelly] legacy. Its mission is dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging theater, dance, and film talent by awarding grants.
