Robin Williams Bio in the Works
Publisher Henry Holt announced the project today. No title or publication date was given.
"Robin Williams was a cultural hero of mine,” Itzkoff said in a statement announcing the deal. “In the encounters and interactions I was able to share with him, he was always gentle and generous, humane and thoughtful and hilarious.”
The publisher added the book would be the “the definitive, comprehensive account of Williams’s life.”
Itzkoff penned the Times’ front-page obituary of Williams and wrote a 2009 profile of the comedian for the paper.
Itzkoff, who joined the Times staff in 2006, has penned two other books: Mad as Hell: The Making of Network and the Fateful Vision of the Angriest Man in Movies, which came out in February, and 2011’s Cocaine’s Son: A Memoir.
He’s represented by Daniel Greenberg of the Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary Agency. Holt executive editor Paul Golob represented the publisher.
