Rock Stars Offer Casting Suggestions for Lemmy Kilmister Biopic
A new documentary about Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister features an array of rockers paying homage to the heavy metal icon, including Henry Rollins, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl, Slash, New Order's Peter Hook, Mick Jones from the Clash, Jarvis Cocker and members of Metallica.
Just in time for the band's 35th anniversary, the aptly-titled LEMMY: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch, is already making the screening rounds with new dates (including a Los Angeles run at Laemmle's Sunset 5, opening Jan. 21) just announced. Directed by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski over three years, the film recently won the Best Documentary prize at the In Edit Film Festival in Santiago, Chile.
The LEMMY DVD is slated for release on February 15 and to help the movie get its buzz on is one bonus clip wherein the likes of Rollins, Ice-T and Kirk Hammett ponder who would play Lemmy in a biopic. Several of the interviewees offer themselves for the role, like Billy Bob Thornton and Rancid's Lars Frederiksen, who opines, "I ain't gonna give it to no f-ing B-list actor like Russell Crowe!"
