The designer departs the fashion house after three years.

Rodolfo Paglialunga has departed Jil Sander after three years, the Milan-based fashion house confirmed Wednesday.

The designer presented his last collection for the brand in February during Milan Fashion Week. "It was a great pleasure to collaborate with everyone in Jil Sander and to give my contribution in the brand's history and legacy," Paglialunga said in a statement.

CEO Alessandra Bettari added that the split was mutual and thanked Paglialunga for "the respect he paid to the brand's DNA."

Jil Sander, the person, founded her namesake label in 1968, before selling 75 percent of her company to the Prada Group in 1999. She departed the house the next year, but returned in 2003, only to leave again in 2004. Raf Simons took the helm from 2005-2012, before Sander returned for a brief stint. She left again in 2013. Paglialunga then succeeded Sander.

After Sander terminated her contract with the Prada Group in 2004, the fashion house was bought by private equity firm Change Capital Partners LLP in 2006. The label is now owned by Japan's Onward Luxury Group SpA.

Jil Sander has yet to announce Paglialunga's successor, and Paglialunga has yet to announce his next steps.
