Roger Ailes Mulls Growth for Fox News Latino, Takes Shots at Obama, Gore
In a new interview, the Fox News chief stated that the Latino-oriented news website may expand to include round-the-clock video news offerings.
As the Republican party reorients its message to appeal to Latino voters, Fox News chief Roger Ailes is talking up the ways that his cable news channel can better appeal to the demographic -- including expanding the news website Fox News Latino.
"The contributions being made by Latinos are extraordinary, and we need to talk about them," Ailes told the New Republic magazine in an interview. "Fox News Latino has a mission to point out the positives of the Latino population, operating within the framework of making America great."

"Fox News Latino will show people how opportunities exist, that whenever we are overregulated, or there is too much government, we lose freedom. We lose power," he stated.
Fox, Ailes revealed to the New Republic, is considering expanding the Fox News Latino's offerings to include what was described by the magazine as "a 24-hour video news stream." The flagship Fox News website currently offers a live player to watch the news channels offerings online.
In the interview, Ailes also had characteristic criticism for President Obama ("He is busy trying to get everybody to hate each other.") and took Al Gore to task for selling Current TV to the Qatar-backed news organization Al Jazeera. Gore sold it to "the oil people to get rich," Ailes said.
Ailes last October inked a four-year deal with News Corp. to remain the CEO of Fox News. The channel has recently made a series of contributor changes, including firing pundit Dick Morris -- who predicted a Mitt Romney landslide in the presidential election -- and parting ways with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
