Coming out of the Los Angeles Screenings, Canadian broadcaster Rogers Media has bought eight series from Media Rights Capital's scripted series slate as part of a deal with ShineReveille International, which handles MRC's international distribution.

Toronto-based Rogers acquired MRC's one-hour shows for the CW "Valentine Inc.," from Kevin Murphy, and "Easy Money," from Andy Schneider and Diane Frolov, as well as midseason prospect "F.A.T. City."

Rogers, which recently acquired five youth-skewing Citytv stations nationwide, also picked up five MRC comedies: "Rita Rocks," "Outnumbered" and "Krod Mandoon" as well as cartoons "The Life and Times of Tim" and "The Goode Family."

Terms of the deal, which takes effect Sept. 1, were not disclosed.

Earlier, Rogers Media picked up NBC Universal's "Crusoe" for Friday at 8 p.m. and a handful of Fox midseason series that didn't go to rival CanWest Media. (partialdiff)
