COLOGNE, Germany -- Achim Rohnke has been named co-head of German television production giant Bavaria Film, replacing Dieter Frank, who is retiring next summer.

Rohnke, head of advertising sales and service at German pubcaster and Bavaria shareholder ARD, will take up the new post July 1, 2008. He will run Bavaria Film together with co-managing director Matthias Esche.

Bavaria announced the management move ahead of next week's MIPTV in Cannes.

In addition to presenting such in-house highlights as Telenovela "Tempest of Love" to international buyers at MIPTV, Bavaria plans to unveil recent acquisitions including Spanish crime series "Genesis" and French historical miniseries "Bitter Tropics," which the German group picked up at MIPCOM in October.

MIPTV begins Monday and runs through April 20.
