ROME – The RomaFictionFest released the lineup for its sixth edition Friday, featuring five world premieres and 80 international premieres, and a change in focus for the business side from inviting foreign buyers in hopes of fostering distribution deals to seeking out co-production opportunities.

The event, which focuses on television fiction, will be highlighted by a day focusing on BBC Worldwide, another on productions from Argentina, and a slate of premieres that includes Ripper Street, Disney’s Violetta and The Last Resort and a new version of Dallas

The BBC Worldwide Day at the festival will include the worldwide launches of the eight-episode historical mini-series Da Vinci’s Demons and the new crime drama Ripper Street, along with the Italian premiere of Great Expectations, including a career honor for Gillian Anderson.

The Italian premiere of Violetta will be part of a special focus on productions for young people, artistic director Steve Della Casa said. Sony Pictures’ The Last Resort, reported to be the most expensive pilot ever produced, will also screen along with a contemporary incarnation of Dallas.

Other highlights include K2: Mountain of Italians from Italian state broadcaster RAI and NBC’s The New Normal and Elementary from CBS.

The day dedicated to Argentina will include special screenings and the attendance of a delegation of Argentine producers looking to sign co-production deals.

Artistic director Della Casa said the event will be the most international edition of the RomaFictionFest yet.

“Something unique is the participation of so many international majors,” Della Casa said. “More than ever, the RomaFictionFest is becoming an international event.”

The festival runs Sept. 30-Oct. 5.
