Roman Polanski’s ‘Carnage’ To Open Poland’s Plus Camerimage Festival
The festival’s line-up includes such awards favorites as “Tree of Life,” “Shame” and “Hysteria.”
COLOGNE, Germany – Roman Polanski’s Carnage, starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly, will open the 19th Plus Camerimage in Bydgoszcz, Poland Nov. 26.
The festival, arguably the world’s top festival event celebrating the art of cinematography, has picked a line up of award hopefuls and critical favorites for its 2011 edition. Highlights included Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, Shame from Steve McQueen, Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights and period rom-com Hysteria starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy.
Other gems picked from this year’s festival circuit included Berlin winner A Separation from Iranian director Asghar Farhadi; Agnieszka Holland’s Holocaust drama In Darkness; Shakespeare adaptation Coriolanus from actor-turned-director Ralph Fiennes; Aki Kaurismaki’s Le Havre and Lars von Trier’s Melancholia starring Kirsten Dunst.
A sampling of the Polish titles screening in competition at Plus Camerimage include Jan Komasa’s Suicide Room, My Name is Ki from director Leszek Dawid and Rafael Lewandowski’s The Mole.
The Plus Camerimage’s music video sidebar will screen videos from recording artists including Adele (Rolling in the Deep), Eminem (Space Bound), Kings of Leon (Pyro) and Brandon Flowers (Only the Young). The 2011 Plus Camerimage runs Nov. 26 – Dec. 3.
