ZURICH - Roman Polanski will tell his side of the story of his eventful, controversial life in a new documentary by Laurent Bouzereau that Polanski shot during his house arrest in Switzerland two years ago. The new documentary had its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival Tuesday.

Polanski was en route to the Zurich Festival two years ago when he was arrested by Swiss police on a U.S. warrant from 1978. That's when Polanski fled America after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl.

In the documentary, called Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir, Polanski gives his version of his life story, up to and including his house arrest and extradition trial. The film will screen after the Oscar-winning director is honored in Zurich tonight with a lifetime achievement award.

Zurich Festival organizers had been keeping the screening under wraps, saying only that a "secret" documentary would be shown after the awards ceremony.
