Rome mayor to L.A. for fest support
EmptyROME -- Walter Veltroni, mayor of the Italian capital and one of the founders of the RomaCinemaFest, will soon embark for Los Angeles to help line up support for the new festival among major Hollywood studios, Veltroni's office said Wednesday.
The specific dates were not released, though a spokesman said Veltroni would leave within a "few" days. Included on the agenda is a ceremonial lunch hosted by Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis and meetings with the top brass from DreamWorks, Fox, Universal Studios, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Veltroni will be joined by Piers Detassis, the director of the Italian cinema monthly "Ciak" and one of the RomaCinemaFest's co-directors.
