Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman has launched new production company Wing and a Prayer Pictures, which will aim to produce and finance up to three independent films per year.

The film fund and production company's slate will focus on dramas and genre fare to be made in the $3 million to $10 million budget range.

Josh and Randy Crook are partnering with Perlman in the new endeavor, while Jay Cohen of Gersh and Erik Kritzer and Brian Wilkins of Link Entertainment will assume management positions in the company. Wilkins and Kritzer will serve as co-heads of production, while Cohen will be an advisory partner that will help source material, package the projects and negotiate the deals.

Perlman will produce all of the films and will look at some projects as directing and/or acting vehicles. The company will be actively looking for material in Cannes this month.

"I am looking to create a haven for the artists that I love and admire to do what it is that they do best, which is to create beautiful cinema,” said Perlman in a statement. “I've always been of the mind that movies that appeal to our better angels — that are smart, evocative, original and visionary — and movies that are profitable are not mutually exclusive of one another. Wing and a Prayer will strive to be exemplary of the great tradition passed down by generations of cinematic masters."

Perlman most recently starred as Clay Morrow on FX's biker drama Sons of Anarchy, and recently completed shooting the pilot for Amazon’s forthcoming original series Hand of God, in which he stars and also serves as executive producer. He’s repped by Gersh and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Nilon Entertainment.
