Ronda Rousey to Star in Her Own Biopic
The UFC champion has been building up an acting career with roles in 'Expendables 3,' 'Furious 7' and 'Entourage.'
UFC champion Ronda Rousey, who has been diving into Hollywood with roles in Entourage, Furious 7 and Expendables 3, will see her own life story make its way onto the big screen.
Paramount has nabbed the rights to the 28-year-old's autobiography My Fight/Your Fight, and Rousey is attached to star in the biopic.
Mark Bomback will write the script for the film, which would follow Rousey's life and career. Rousey is an Olympic medalist in Judo and the reigning Women's MMA Bantamweight Fighter. (On Saturday in Rio, she knocked out challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds to defend her bantamweight title.)
Mary Parent will produce the film with Rousey, and Bomback will executive produce.
Rousey has built up her acting career with her roles in Expendables 3, Entourage and Furious 7. She'll next star in Mile 22, the Peter Berg-directed film that will also star Mark Wahlberg. She's repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
In regards to her acting plan, Rousey told The Hollywood Reporter: "I never thought that being an action movie star was in the cards for me. My agent, [WME's] Brad Slater, kept telling me, 'You're going to be the female Rock.' Then I started to believe it could be a reality."
