If there’s anyone who understands the wardrobe dilemmas of a busy working mother on the go, it’s Rosetta Getty. Wife to Big Sur actor Balthazar Getty and mother of four, the Los Angeles-based socialite and designer has announced the launch of her latest style endeavor, an eponymous ready-to-wear line, set to arrive at high-end retailers in 2014.
Getty has been earning her fashion stripes since age 15, when she began her international career in modeling. At age 20, Getty enrolled in Otis, launching children’s line Rosetta Millington shortly thereafter in 1990. From 2006 to 2008, she debuted her impressionable ready-to-wear line, Riser Goodwyn, beloved by celebrities including Kristen Stewart, Courteney Cox and Heidi Klum. Now, Getty readies to re-enter the world of fashion with a versatile, California-inspired namesake line in collaboration with investor Matthew Walker of The Dock, former president of The Row.
Unlike Riser Goodwyn, which was targeted to occasion dressing, the Rosetta Getty line consists of day to evening looks, with an “all-consuming life” in mind, she says. “My youngest just started kindergarten, so I waited for that before making a commitment to do this,” explained Getty of the line she describes as “beautiful, attractive and feminine, but with a tomboy edge.”
So what kind of woman did Getty have in mind when designing the line? “The customer is me, and women like me, who work and have a family and travel, and live the same way I live,” says Getty. “It’s a collection for the modern woman who has a huge life and who isn’t going home to prepare for the next event. It’s definitely for the woman on the go.”
