'The View' Loses Another Rosie
Executive producer Bill Wolff informed staff on Tuesday.
Just a few weeks after formally adding Raven-Symone to its ranks, The View is losing another member of its panel: Rosie Perez.
Executive producer Bill Wolff informed staff of the ABC News daytime show on Tuesday evening in the below memo. Perez's exit follows the recent departure of Rosie O'Donnell after both joined at the top of the 2014-15 season as part of a post-Barbara Walters reboot.
Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show at the conclusion of this season to pursue full time her love for acting.
Stepping into the role of talk show host at the same time she has been starring on Broadway has been incredibly impressive. And beyond being an enormously talented performer, Rosie is a dedicated advocate who has brought passion and insight to the panel every day.
Rosie will always be a part of The View family, and we will welcome her back as a guest anytime to catch up. We’ll plan a proper send off for her in a few weeks, but in the meantime, please join me in thanking her for her great work on the show.
Perez's departure comes as no big surprise. There have been rumblings since January when several false reports had her leaving at the halfway point of the season. Perez took time off to appear on Broadway in Larry David's A Fish in the Dark — but ultimately returned full time. (Perez did not appear on Monday's or Tuesday's episode.)
With both Rosies out, Nicolle Wallace stands as the only addition from the top of the season still sitting on the panel. A revolving door of guest co-hosts filter in during the week, joining Wallace, Symone, Perez and moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
