Rotterdam to Screen Competition Titles for Sales Agents Ahead of Fest Premieres

The films will be available on demand on industry VOD portal Festival Scope.

 

COLOGNE, Germany -- In a first for a major competitive festival, the Rotterdam film festival will screen its competition titles for sales agents ahead of the films' festival premieres.

Rotterdam hopes the move will improve distribution opportunities for films competing for its Tiger Awards. Rotterdam's competition is only open to debut and second features and, as such, doesn't have the industry clout of bigger fests such as Cannes, Berlin and Toronto.

The films will be available on demand on industry VOD portal Festival Scope (www.festivalscope.com). After their Rotterdam premiere the titles will be made available to all professionals registered on Festival Scope.

Festival Scope will also work together with Rotterdam's co-production market CineMart to stream previous films of filmmakers participating in this year event.

The 40th Rotterdam International Film Festival runs Jan. 26-Feb. 6.
