Rotterdam's CineMart Picks Titles
'Boyfriend,' the new project from 'Miss Lovely' director Ashim Ahluwalia is among the titles looking for co-production partners
CineMart, the co-production market run by the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR), has unveiled its lineup of new projects for its 2015 session
The 24 features, all looking for co-production partners and funding, come from across Europe, the U.S. and Latin America. They include Boyfriend, the new project from Indian New Wave director Ashim Ahluwalia, whose debut, Miss Lovely, screened to critical acclaim in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section in 2012.
Argentine director Benjamin Naishtat, whose History of Fear was a Berlin competition title this year, will be pitching his new project Rojo. Fellipe Barbosa from Brazil returns to Rotterdam with his new feature Gabriel and the Mountain after premiering his debut, Casa Grande at the IFFR in January.
All of the 24 selected titles qualify for three cash bursaries, which will be awarded at the end of the market. These include the $25,000 (€20,000) Eurimages Co-production development award, the $8,700 (€7,000) Arte International prize and the inaugural Wouter Barendrecht Award, which comes with a $6,200 (€5,000) bursary and I named in honor of the Rotterdam festival programmer and co-founder of Fortissimo Films, who died in 2009.
The 2015 CineMart runs from Jan.25-28. The IFFR runs Jan. 2-Feb. 1.
