First Run nabs 'Old Jews Telling Jokes'
Company picks up home video rights to Internet seriesFirst Run Features has picked up domestic home video rights to "Old Jews Telling Jokes," a Web video series created and directed by Sam Hoffman from Jetpack Media, the Internet production company created by GreeneStreet Films.
"Jews" has registered more than 1.5 million video plays since the series launched Jan. 30. It also was a top 10 video podcast on iTunes for several weeks.
Inspired by Hoffman's memories of growing up around his father's friends and family, all accomplished storytellers and joke tellers, it is produced by GreeneStreet co-president Tim Williams and Jetpack head Eric Spiegelman.
Each episode consists of one person over the age of 60 telling his or her favorite joke. A new video is posted every Tuesday and Thursday at OldJewsTellingJokes.com.
"Jews" is hosted and served on the Internet exclusively by online television network blip.tv.
The home video version of the series will include all 28 episodes shown online, plus five exclusive videos that will only be available on home video.
