News Corp. Papers Vary in Covering Rupert Murdoch Divorce Filing
The New York Post has not yet posted a story on the filing while The Times, Wall Street Journal wrote about the chairman.
News broke on Thursday that News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch had filed for divorce from his wife of 14 years, Wendi Deng. While the news made the homepages of major U.S. and U.K. news outlets, some News Corp.-owned tabloids have taken a more restrained approach.
In the U.K., News Corp. broadsheet The Times featured the story on its homepage (under a strict paywall, like all of its other content), while The Sun tabloid doesn't have a story on the homepage of its site as of this writing.
Stateside, News Corp. flagship paper The Wall Street Journal published a story with Associated Press wire copy and an additional article by media writer Martin Peers that's featured on the homepage of the site.
The New York Post, however, doesn't currently feature a story about Murdoch on its website. FoxNews.com, which will join Fox News Channel as part of the 21st Century Fox group when the company splits its publishing and entertainment assets this year, features an AP wire copy version of the story. FoxBusiness.com currently does not appear to feature a story.
In Australia, News Corp. newspaper The Australian has also yet to feature a story on the front page of its website while tabloids The Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun have published a story on the divorce.
