Russia Box Office: 'Batman v. Superman' Stays No. 1 With Muted $1.8M
Warners' superhero movie took in just under a quarter of the opening weekend's gross.
Warner Bros.' Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice stayed atop of the weekend box office in Russia, but its gross was down sharply in the movie's second outing.
Zack Snyder's superhero movie grossed another 124 million rubles ($1.8 million), down from $7.7 million in its opening weekend, for a cume of $11.1 million.
Disney's animated tentpole Zootopia stayed in second place. The pic took in $1.4 million in its fifth frame for a cume of $30.3 million, making Russia the second-highest international market for the movie, behind only China.
Paramount's 10 Cloverfield Lane opened at No. 3 with $814,000, 22 percent above Cloverfield and 11 percent below Contagion.
Two local releases made the top five over the weekend.
Yuri Vasilyev's war drama Geroy (Hero), starring popular singer Dima Bilan as a WWI officer, bowed at No. 4. The $7 million pic grossed $725,000.
And Oleg Asadulin's horror thriller Marshrut postroyen (The Route Is Built) debuted at No. 5, taking in $453,000.
