"She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy."

When it comes to talking about his wife, Ryan Reynolds has no problem expressing his love for Blake Lively. And he continued to gush about her when the two were photographed by Humans of New York's Brandon Stanton at Monday evening's Met Gala.

"She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy," Reynolds said of Lively. "She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she's made me a more empathetic person."

He continued: "I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn't want to remember. She made me remember the good times."

At fashion's big night, Lively stepped out in a custom-made Atelier Versace gown comprising delicate gold chains and a multicolored feather train, while Reynolds dressed up in a navy blue Versace tuxedo and a pale blue bow tie.

Stanton, whose popular photoblog was founded in 2010 and features street-style portraits and interviews of New Yorkers (and now, people all around the world), previously attended the Met Gala in 2015 and 2016. Grace Coddington, Katy Perry, Tavi Gevinson, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are among those who have served as Stanton's subjects at the exclusive soiree.
