Ryan Reynolds in Talks to Star in Mars Mission Movie From 'Deadpool' Writers
'Life' will reteam the actor with his 'Safehouse' director and his 'Deadpool' writers.
For his next project, Ryan Reynolds is hanging up his superhero suit and picking up a space suit.
Following a record-setting opening weekend for Deadpool ($150 million for the holiday weekend), the actor is in talks to star in Life, a sci-fi project that not only reteams him with director Daniel Espinosa but also with his Deadpool writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation breakout Rebecca Ferguson also is on the roll call in the project, whose logline is being kept under wraps but involves artificial intelligence and alien life on Mars.
Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg are producing with Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.
Reynolds' negotiations for the movie shouldn't be construed as this being his first move in the wake of Deadpool's massive opening. The offer was made several weeks ago and negotiations started prior to the Fox movie getting bigger and bigger.
The actor is set to star in The Truth in Advertising and The Hitman's Bodyguard, alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. A sequel to Deadpool is already in the works.
Reynolds is repped by WME and Sloane Offer.
