Sadie Frost to Produce Ben Charles Edwards' Feature Debut
Blonde to Black Pictures also produced the British director's short film "Dotty," which starred Rudy Law, Frost's youngest son with Jude Law.
LONDON – Avant-garde British filmmaker Ben Charles Edwards will make his feature debut with Set The Thames on Fire, starring Michael Winder (The Tudors). Edwards' debut is to be mounted by Sadie Frost’s production company, Blonde to Black Pictures.
The film is billed as a dark comedy set in a fantasy-based London, where the river Thames rejects the dead. Two boys, Art and Sal, survive while living within the city’s strictly hierarchical society, controlled by a violent and powerful impresario in a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah. Their desire for freedom, friendship and escape brings them into terrifying conflict.
The project reunites Edwards with Frost and Blonde To Black after they made short film Dotty, which starred Rudy Law, the youngest son of Jude Law and Frost.
French actress Josephine De La Baume is due to join Set The Thames on Fire, schedule permitting, the producer told THR.
"The reason I chose to produce Set The Thames on Fire is because I think that it is a very strong script and Ben has a unique vision. I have worked with Ben on many projects over the last seven years," Frost said. "Josephine De La Baume seems the perfect choice for the character. She came and read for us and brought a charming and delicate quality to the role.'"
Production is scheduled to begin later this year.
Blonde to Black Pictures is owned by Frost and Emma Comley, previously an advertising veteran and music video producer, working alongside executive producer Andrew Green.
