Pink has popped up yet again. This time it was on nominees Sarah Paulson and Kerry Washington, who opted for pretty lip shades at Saturday's SAG Awards. Although Washington's bump-exposing Prada crop top and Paulson's flirty new bob haircut may have been more newsworthy, their feminine lipstick colors complemented both women's looks beautifully.
Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez says she wanted a "total opposite" look to Washington's Globes smoky eye: "This time I chose a more glowy, rosy tan, fresh look with a hint of color on the lips. It adds vibrancy and youthfulness to my work." She applied Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Lip Color Stick in Bright Berry to the lips, then blotted and topped with another coat to give a stained effect, rather than a bold lip.
For Paulson, makeup artist Melanie Inglessis opted for a bright watermelon shade from Maybelline--Elixir Lip Color in Fuchsia Flourish--which she called "modern yet soft." To help build the color to the ideal depth and also ensure its staying power through the night, Inglessis dabbed the lipstick on with her ring finger. She left the eyes neutral -- a soft smudge of black liner along the lash line and two coats of black mascara -- to let the lips take center stage with this look.
Others opting for on-trend pink lips at the SAG Awards included Sandra Bullock, Anna Gunn and Cate Blanchett, who also rocked the feminine hue at the Golden Globes.
