The service took place at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and was attended by the 36-year-old’s family, including his father, Sylvester Stallone, TMZ reports.

Stallone’s death has been under investigation since his body was discovered July 13. Stallone’s mother, Sasha Czack, has speculated prescription drugs her son received after undergoing oral surgery may have been involved, though officials have not named a cause of death, and stressed toxicology tests may take as many as six weeks to come back.

No suicide note was found in Stallone’s apartment, where his body was discovered by his maid.

Stallone made his big screen debut in Rocky V, playing the son of the Italian Stallion. He also appeared in his father’s 1996 disaster film Daylight.

The elder Stallone previously released a statement expressing anguish over his son’s death, which he learned about after a triumphant trip to Comic-Con to promote The Expendables 2.

"This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives,” the action star said. “Sage is our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace."
